How can I connect a DisplayPort to both DVI and VGA screens?

I'm working in a cardiac cath lab and need to connect a machine that has a DisplayPort and a DVI port to two screens: one is the main display in the lab with a DVI port, and the other is an internal recording system (TEAC) that uses a VGA port. Any advice on how to split the signal from the machine to both the VGA and DVI outputs would be greatly appreciated!

When converting, note that there are a couple of different types of DVI ports. If you have DVI-A or DVI-I, a passive adapter should work fine for converting to VGA. But if it's DVI-D, you'll need an active adapter. Also, keep in mind that Dual Link can handle higher resolutions, so be aware of your setup and what it supports!

I recommend looking for a 'DisplayPort to VGA DVI splitter'. It could save you some hassle! Just make sure to check the specs of your DVI port, as there are different types like DVI-A, DVI-I, and DVI-D, which can determine how well the signal will carry over.

You can convert a DisplayPort output to DVI and VGA, but since they serve different types of signals, you'll need the right adapters. A good approach would be to use a DVI splitter cable paired with a DVI to VGA adapter. I've done this a few times and it's usually reliable. However, keep in mind that sometimes converting from DisplayPort can lead to issues, whereas converting DVI to VGA has generally been smooth for me. Also, check if your DVI is a 'Dual Link' type, as that can affect performance. You can find more details regarding the pin configuration on Wikipedia.
