Hi everyone! I'm gearing up to start my retraining as a computer systems administrator in a couple of months, which I'm really excited about. I currently have a decent desktop PC with 32GB of RAM, but I'm on the hunt for a laptop since my job is in a different location.
I'm looking for a laptop that will serve me well during my studies and later in my professional work. My budget is around 500-600 euros, as I'm planning to invest in something more powerful later on. I've come across a couple of options: a Lenovo IdeaPad 1 82VG00NSSC with 16GB DDR5 for 400 euros and an Acer Aspire Lite 16 for 450 euros. I need something that can handle online classes, primarily using Adobe Connect.
What do you think of these options? And do you have any other recommendations? Thanks for your help!

Honestly, a Chromebook might be worth considering if it has enough memory. You can run VirtualBox on it, which is handy for virtual environments. Just make sure it fits your needs for school—check out some guides online if you're unsure about setup!
I've had a good experience with Lenovo Thinkpads, they're solid and great for sysadmin work. If you can, try to get one with at least 16GB of RAM to help with multitasking. Also, it’s a good idea to think about setting up a small home lab for testing purposes once you get the hang of things! You don’t want to overload your personal machine.

I hadn’t thought of that! I’ll definitely check the specs to see if it can handle what I need.
