I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card from an Asus RTX Strix 3090 and I'm currently considering whether to get the Asus RTX 5080, which I can find at Best Buy, or wait for the RTX 5090. My primary focus is gaming and streaming. My setup includes an Intel Core i9 CPU with 24 threads, an Asus ROG Maximus Z890 Hero motherboard, and a 1600W Asus ROG Thor power supply. What's your advice on which GPU would be the better choice?

It all boils down to your use case and how much you're willing to spend. If you're just gaming, the 5080 is already really powerful.
We really need more details about what you're planning to do. What's the main purpose of your PC? Since you're into gaming, unless you need extra VRAM for something like AI, the RTX 5080 makes more sense budget-wise.
Exactly, the 5080 is already a beast for gaming. A lot of people might not need the 5090 unless they're doing something demanding on VRAM.
If you're ready to spend nearly $3000 on a GPU, then go for the RTX 5090. Just keep in mind that it doesn’t deliver as much FPS per dollar compared to the 5080, but you’ll be getting the cream of the crop.
That's true, but the price to performance ratio is crucial. If you're mainly gaming, the 5080 could be a smarter pick.

Yeah, I think a lot of users will find the 5080 meets their needs without going overboard on budget.
