What’s the Best Upgrade for My Ryzen 5 3600?

I'm using a Ryzen 5 3600 with 32GB of 3600MHz RAM and an Asus TUF 8GB RTX 3070. My main focus is gaming at 1440p, but I'm also getting into some video editing, motion graphics, and 3D modeling in Blender and Godot. I've been looking to upgrade my CPU but can't find the highly recommended Ryzen 7 5800X3D or 5700X3D anywhere. Is the standard Ryzen 7 5800X my best option? I'm not looking to switch to AM5 due to RAM costs, and I'm open to spending a reasonable amount to ensure a good match with my 3070.

I recently sold my 5800X3D, and it was a massive step up from the 3600. If you're lucky, check local marketplaces or online for deals. If you're near a Micro Center, they offer some decent AM5 bundles too, which might not be a bad idea.

The Ryzen 7 5700X is a solid upgrade if you can find it; it's efficient and easy to cool. If you can spot a deal on the 5900X, that could also be a good choice amid the craziness of PC parts pricing.

What motherboard are you using? It could affect your upgrade path!

I've got a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite.

If you're thinking long-term, jumping to AM5 could be worthwhile, but yeah, it may cost more upfront. Just be ready to spend a bit if you go that route!

Totally! I'm switching to AM5 too and hoping it lasts a while, since the upgrade cost can hit hard.

The 5700X or 5800X are both excellent choices for your setup. I upgraded from a 3600 to the 5800X on the same motherboard, and it really improved my 2K gaming experience. You'll love the performance boost!
