I downloaded a suspicious file (I know, dumb move), and now my downloads folder on D: along with several other folders are "locked." I can't access them at all. Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this?

Have you attempted to take ownership of those locked folders? You might need to check the permissions settings.

It's crucial to disconnect your computer from the internet ASAP, just in case. If you have OneDrive, you could restore files from an earlier version. You might also need to consider reinstalling Windows with a USB, especially if you suspect this could be ransomware.

Have you tried reloading your operating system? Sometimes a simple restart can help.
