Hey everyone! So, I recently updated my BIOS, and now I'm being prompted to enter the Bitlocker recovery key on my personal PC running Windows 11. The issue is that I never enabled Bitlocker, and now I'm stuck because even after entering the recovery key, my computer just keeps rebooting and asking for it again. This has left me with two main questions:
1. Why did Bitlocker suddenly activate when I didn't allow it to encrypt my drives?
2. Is there a way for me to access the command prompt and use Diskpart to wipe the drives clean and do a fresh Windows install?
Thanks for any help!

Bitlocker is actually on by default in Windows 11, and BIOS updates can trigger it to ask for the recovery key. It’s a security feature to protect your data. I’d recommend confirming whether your recovery key is correct. If you need, I can help you troubleshoot to access your system without a complete wipe. But if it seems hopeless and you want a fresh start, reinstalling Windows is an option, although you'd lose all your data unless you have backups.
Once Bitlocker is enabled, you'll need another PC to create a Windows 11 install USB to reinstall your system, which will erase everything on your current machine. Just be aware that erasing everything will remove any Bitlocker lock, so you'll be starting completely fresh if that's what you're going for.
That was my plan! If I can access the terminal, I can use Diskpart to wipe the drives clean, including any Bitlocker encryption. Ready to move on!

I’m not sure if the key is working either, but I plan to use a USB with the Windows media creation tool to access CMD and wipe everything with Diskpart. It's not a big deal for me, just some games on there.
