Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with a PC that I just reassembled using some older parts. It used to run perfectly with a Ryzen 9 5900X and 32GB RAM, but now that I've swapped in a Ryzen 5 2600X, I'm facing a "No Signal" issue on the monitor. The setup consists of:
* **CPU:** Ryzen 5 2600X
* **GPU:** GTX 1660 Super
* **RAM:** 1x 8GB (currently installed in slot A2 for troubleshooting)
* **Motherboard:** ASRock B450M Pro4
Here's the situation: the system powers on, with all fans running and the GPU light on, but the monitor shows no signal and stays black. I've already tried various troubleshooting steps including resetting the CMOS, checking all power cables, ensuring the monitor is connected to the GPU, and testing different RAM slots. I suspect the motherboard's BIOS might be the issue since it was originally updated for the 5000-series Ryzen CPUs. Is it possible that the newer BIOS no longer supports the 2600X? Any tips on how to get the system to POST would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely check the BIOS notes. It looks like support for Ryzen 1st and 2nd generations might have been dropped in order to accommodate the newer chips. You might need to source a different CPU or a compatible motherboard if that’s the case.
It sounds like you might be right about the BIOS. Motherboards like the B450 series sometimes had to drop older Ryzen support for the newer 5000 series due to memory limitations on the BIOS chip. It's worth checking the current BIOS version to see if it still supports your 2600X.
I'd recommend looking into a B550 motherboard. I had a similar issue when I got an older board that couldn't support the 5000 series Ryzen. Got a B550 off Amazon, and it posted instantly! That's likely your best bet here.
Yeah, I had a B550 reserved for a different project. Now I'll have three motherboards, lol!

Yeah, that would be a bummer! I'll have to figure out my next move—do you think it’s cheaper to buy a new motherboard instead of getting a different CPU?
