I recently tried adding an 8GB RAM stick to my small form factor Optiplex 5060 to boost its memory. However, after installation, the system just blinks two times followed by seven blinks repeatedly, and it won't boot. I wondered if this is just the system training the RAM or if it's a compatibility issue since the new stick is 1rx8 while the original is 1rx16. The other specifications seem similar, but I haven't found many sources confirming compatibility issues with my motherboard. I've also read about resetting the BIOS or CMOS, but I'm unsure if that's the case here. Could it be a faulty RAM stick, or am I missing something?

The 2-7 error code indicates that your BIOS is having trouble with the RAM configuration. Your motherboard might not be compatible with that specific RAM pairing. Try testing the new stick alone to see if it boots up. Running MemTest86+ can help check for defects in the RAM. Also, don’t forget to update your BIOS to the latest version if you haven't already; sometimes, updates improve memory compatibility.
Did you mix different RAM sizes?
Not different sizes, but different modules – one has 4 chips (1rx16) while the other has 8 (1rx8).

I tested the new RAM on its own, and it still won't boot, but I will try swapping DIMM slots as you suggested before concluding it's defective.
