Advice on Upgrading My 2013 Gaming PC

I've got a gaming PC built in 2013 with these specs: Intel i7-3770k, GTX 1080ti 11Gb (which I upgraded from a GTX 670), and 16Gb DDR3 RAM. I've noticed that my CPU is bottlenecking performance, especially for the latest games. With hardware prices being pretty steep right now, I'm considering upgrading my motherboard, CPU, and RAM to extend the life of my PC for another year or two. I'm curious about which CPU I should go for – AMD 5600x or Intel 12600k? I'm looking for the best value for my money since I plan to play Battlefield 6 on a 2560x1080 screen, and possibly upgrade to a 1440p screen in the future. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Consider going for an AM5 setup since AM4 is getting older. It might seem pricier initially, but investing in the latest tech generally pays off in the long run. If you're not against it, any X3D CPU would also help justify using cheaper RAM right now.

I’m leaning towards AM4 because the DDR4 prices are way cheaper in the used market. I plan to build a completely new rig in 1-2 years, so budget is a consideration.

Honestly, almost any CPU, motherboard, and RAM upgrade will give you a nice performance boost. Even though prices are high right now, the used market can offer some good deals. If you haven't already, check out local listings or groups where you can find second-hand components. It might save you some cash!

Wow, the used market sounds promising, but I'm in Austria... I'll definitely look around for what’s available there! Still not sure which CPU to go for, though.

If you're planning to keep your system for a while, I’d say go for the full upgrade. The boost in graphics quality and new technologies would really enhance your gaming experience. It's all about enjoying those new graphics and details you haven't experienced yet!

The 12600k and 5600x are both solid choices for gaming, with the 12600k having an edge in multicore performance. Ultimately, just pick the one that fits your budget, as they'll both perform well in games.

What’s your budget and location? If you share that info, I can help you find some good recommendations!

I’m in Austria, and my budget is flexible. I’m comparing new parts with used options but want to ensure I get the best CPU that wouldn’t bottleneck my GTX 1080 Ti. Since I’ll be upgrading to a new PC soon, I think spending around €300 on a solid motherboard, CPU, and RAM is worth it for the performance boost.
