Next Steps After Passing AWS Solutions Architect Certification?

I recently passed my AWS Solutions Architect Associate exam after preparing for about two months. I have some background knowledge and experience, including:

- Working knowledge of Linux
- Basic skills in Python and some experience with scripting
- Completed a small AWS cloud project that involved automation
- Familiarity with Jenkins and have over a year of experience as an L1 Compute Engineer at a reputable company that deals with servers.

Now, I'm feeling a bit lost on what my next steps should be. Should I dive deeper into AWS services and projects, improve my Python skills, or start exploring DevOps tools like Docker or Terraform? What's the best path to break into a cloud role? Additionally, should I start applying for cloud-related positions now, or should I wait until I feel more skilled? Any advice or personal experiences that could help would be greatly appreciated!

I recommend applying for jobs while also setting up a homelab where you can run projects that interest you. Working on personal projects will not only help you learn but also show potential employers your practical skills. Best of luck!

Absolutely! I'll start working on setting up my homelab.

Congrats on passing the certification! My advice? Stop overthinking it and start building projects. Consider starting a Terraform project, containerizing it with Docker, and deploying it on AWS. Don't hesitate to apply for jobs now, especially for cloud support roles. They typically value experience and adaptability over just having more certifications. Your L1 experience combined with your new AWS certification already sets you apart from many applicants who are still stuck in the learning phase.

Thanks! I'll definitely focus on building projects and will be applying for jobs soon. I feel like working in cloud support will give me a good foundation for a DevOps engineer role.
