I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 5600X paired with a Radeon 9070XT and thinking about moving to the AM5 platform. I play games like Rust and I'm considering the Ryzen 7 7800X3D priced at £285 or the Ryzen 9 9800X3D for £380. With RAM prices being what they are, should I make the leap now or is it better to wait?

If I were you, I’d hold off for a bit due to the RAM prices. Also, waiting could mean getting a newer, better AM5 CPU down the line. Current forecasts say RAM and SSD prices might not drop until around 2027.
Sticking with AM4 and going for an X3D CPU could be a solid option. Just check the prices lately; they can be a bit surprising.
The 9800X3D is around 40% faster than your current CPU in benchmarks when paired with a high-end GPU. If you’re gaming at higher resolutions with your current setup, you might not see as big of a difference. Is that extra investment worth it for you?
The performance boost can be significant with AM5, especially in certain games. A year ago, I would have definitely recommended it, but with RAM prices being high now, it really depends on how much you need that upgrade right now.
