Help! My Ethernet Speed Drops Dramatically, What Can I Do?

I'm having a pretty urgent issue with my MSI Vector 16 HX AI A2XWHG-444CA, which has a Realtek PCIe 2.5Gbe Family Controller and runs on Windows 11. When I connect it via ethernet, I initially get around 700 Mbps, but then it randomly drops down to about 90 Mbps. This drop happened after I transferred a lot of footage to my Phison SSD, but I've also seen this occur after numerous attempts to troubleshoot, like reinstalling drivers and toggling the ethernet port. I have another laptop that connects fine with the same cable, so there's no problem with the cable itself. I know Realtek network cards aren't the best, but I can't get a USB-C to Ethernet adapter right now. Many people have reported similar problems, but no one seems to have found a solid solution. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! It sounds frustrating, but here are some things you might try:
1. As a temporary fix, consider using an external WiFi adapter or a mesh network extender close to your machine to avoid dropped connections.
2. Check if you can roll back to an older driver version, especially if other users have mentioned issues with the current version.
3. Take a look at your router; sometimes speeds can dip after heavy transfers due to overheating or overload. I had a similar issue with mine until I got a better router.
4. If you're feeling adventurous, you could try running a basic Linux distro. I've switched to Linux on a laptop before when Windows drivers were acting up, and it worked like a charm!
5. You might want to monitor your laptop with a tool like HWInfo64 during large transfers to see if overheating is an issue.

Thanks for the tips! Just to clarify, the slowdown happened after moving footage from an external card, and I didn’t have any logs to check on. Just thought that might help others who have the same issue.
