I'm helping a friend build a 1080p gaming PC and the setup includes an i5-14400F, with a rough budget of around €1300. Currently, we're looking at using the RX 9060 XT 16GB for about €450, bringing the total close to €1320. Here are the GPU options and their prices:
- RX 9060 XT 16GB: €450
- RTX 5060 8GB: €330
- RTX 5060 Ti 16GB: €600 (which seems a bit steep for a 60-class card).
If I want to include the 5060 Ti, I'd have to downgrade other components like the case, cooler, SSD, or possibly even RAM. So, is it worth sacrificing the quality of other parts to fit the 5060 Ti into the budget, or is sticking with the RX 9060 XT the smarter choice for a 1080p setup?

If you’re considering the 5060, you should at least compare it to the 8GB version of the 9060 XT, which is generally regarded as the better card. I’d recommend sticking with the 9060 XT unless your friend is heavily using something like After Effects or Blender. By the way, what’s the rest of the build looking like? Just curious since the 14400F seems like an odd choice sometimes.
The difference in performance between the 8GB and 16GB 9060 XT is quite small, about 4%, but remember that the 5060 doesn’t have that much VRAM and could struggle in some scenarios.
I have the RX 9060 XT and it's been fantastic for me! I'm maxing out my 1080p monitor right now, and I’m even looking into 1440p since it runs it so well. I think downgrading the other components just for the 5060 Ti isn't worth it.
I would definitely stick with the RX 9060 XT! It’s a great card for 1080p gaming and even handles 1440p pretty well. You get more VRAM and overall better performance at a reasonable price.

We're in France, so this CPU was the best deal I could find in my price range. I initially wanted to go for AM5, but RAM prices spiked too much.
