What’s the Best Upgrade for My AM4 PC: CPU or RAM?

I have a Ryzen 5 3600, an Intel ARC B580 GPU, and 16GB of RAM. I'm trying to figure out whether I should upgrade my CPU or add more RAM to improve my gaming performance. I doubt my GPU is the limiting factor, so any insights on which upgrade would be more beneficial would be greatly appreciated!

I just snagged a 5800XT for a great price and it worked perfectly. If you're considering a CPU upgrade, here’s a link to a reputable seller: [Processor Link](https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-7-5000-series-ryzen-7-5800xt-vermeer-socket-am4-desktop-cpu-processor/p/N82E16819113846?item=N82E16819113846&utm_source=transactional&utm_medium=email&cm_mmc=TEMC-Delivery-Notice-USA-_-101932&utm_campaign=TEMC-Delivery-Notice-USA-_-101932). It arrived fast and in perfect condition!

If you're aiming for a meaningful boost over the Ryzen 3600, going for a 5700X or 5800X would be the best option. If your games run into CPU limitations, those will help a lot. Otherwise, the RAM upgrade can help, but only if you're already near the limits of what you have. In many cases, 16GB still holds up well!

From my experience, the CPU upgrade is more beneficial right now, especially since 16GB of RAM is still sufficient for most games. By the time you need more RAM, you might be looking at transitioning to AM5 for a CPU upgrade anyway!

A 5700X is a solid choice. I've seen them going for about $150 to $200 on places like eBay. Upgrading your RAM might help smooth out your gameplay, but it won't necessarily increase your max frame rates. I think the CPU upgrade would be the way to go!

What resolution do you usually game at? If it's 1080p, your current setup is pretty balanced; you might not notice a dramatic difference from one upgrade alone. However, if you're gaming at 1440p, consider upgrading your GPU or adding more RAM if it's affordable. An OLED monitor can also enhance the visual experience significantly!

I'd recommend upgrading your CPU first. Options like the 5600, 5600X, or even the 5700X would provide a noticeable boost in performance. Just keep in mind that you might not see huge jumps unless you go for one of the 5000 series X3D CPUs, which can be tough to find.
