I'm in the process of building a new rig for VRChat, and I'm torn between the 9850X3D and the 9950X3D CPUs. I know the 9850X3D is usually considered better for gaming, but I'm doing a lot of multitasking while I play. I often run multiple applications like Firefox, Spotify, and Discord in the background. Sometimes, I even stream another game to the VRChat TV using OBS.
Given this setup, I'm wondering if the ability to use the second CCD of the 9950X3D would make a significant difference in performance. I also want to know if there's any solid evidence that the 9850X3D would outperform in strictly single-game scenarios or if these two options are pretty much on par. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

From what you've described, a lot of your tasks rely more on RAM than on CPU cores. You could likely manage with a 6-core CPU like a 5600 or 7600 for your multitasking needs without much issue. But, if you're considering running multiple games at once, those extra cores on the 9950X3D might be beneficial.

What about running two games at once?
