How can I tell if I’m really into computer science?

A great way to test your interest is to try out the CS50 course from Harvard. If you can make it to week 5, it’s a good sign you might be into it. By the end, if you understand the concepts and actually find it fun, then you could really consider making it a career.

I started with web development in high school and loved it. However, when I majored in computer science in college, I found it frustrating because the focus was more on concepts than building actual products. I dropped out and became a lawyer but later returned to tech through boot camps and landed jobs at great companies. My advice is to focus on what you love to create rather than what’s traditionally taught. If you're more interested in programming as a means to build things, consider software engineering or IT instead of a strict CS degree. There's plenty of free knowledge out there, and if you're driven, you can find your path without a CS degree.

Web development and computer science differ quite a bit. Just be aware that programming as a whole is a much larger field, so exploring various aspects can be beneficial as you figure out what you truly enjoy.
