Why won’t my new PC POST?

I'm trying to build my first PC and I'm running into some serious issues. After following all the setup steps, everything powers on—the fans spin—but it won't POST. I recently got help from an experienced builder who suggested I replace the motherboard, so I bought a new MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk WiFi and successfully updated the BIOS. However, I'm still facing the same problem: a persistent red CPU light and an orange/yellow DRAM light. I've checked that all cables are connected correctly and even tried troubleshooting with just one stick of RAM. I'm now starting to suspect that my CPU might be the issue since it's also new and the pins look fine. I would really appreciate any advice on what to try next or whether there could be something else at fault! I'm working with a Ryzen 7800x3d CPU, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, and a Corsair RM850e PSU, along with the previously mentioned components.

It sounds like you might have a CPU issue if you're seeing the red light for it. If you've made sure the CPU is seated properly and the pins are undamaged, that red light usually indicates a problem with the CPU itself. You could try testing the CPU with a different motherboard if possible, or you might want to consider returning it if it's still under warranty. Sometimes, OEM CPUs can have issues if they were not handled properly during shipping or storage.

Yeah, if the CPU came as just the tray version without any packaging, there's a chance it might have been mishandled. If you suspect it might be faulty, definitely check with the seller about a return or replacement.

Also, it could be related to the RAM. Make sure you're testing only with one stick of RAM in the A2 slot as that's the recommended configuration for most motherboards. Try swapping the stick you’re using with another one if you have a spare, or check if the RAM is seated correctly. Sometimes just reseating everything can work miracles!

Great tip! I had a similar issue and just reseating the RAM did the trick for me. It's always the little things that can trip you up.
