What are the best options for sending emails after Microsoft ends Basic SMTP support?

Hey everyone! I've noticed that Microsoft will be ending support for Basic SMTP authentication soon, and I'm not the only one facing this challenge. Many hosting providers are also disabling SMTP support, and this seems to affect services like Gmail and Yahoo too. I'm looking for solutions that will allow us to send scanned documents from our printers via email and also for emails generated through various APIs starting from March 1. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated, as I'm a bit confused about what's next. What do you think?

I’ve migrated our devices to use SMTP2Go a month ago, and it’s been a quick fix for the transition. If you haven’t yet, definitely consider it as an option!

Consider setting up Postfix with an SMTP connector whitelisted for your public IP range. It's been working wonderfully for us, and ensures reliable mail flow without needing heavy changes.

Don’t forget about Azure Communication Service. It’s built to work seamlessly with your SPF and DKIM, gives you TLS security, and it's a solid option if you play by the rules.

Absolutely! Plus, the pricing is competitive with other services, and I love the compliance aspect.

Yup, definitely a top choice for ensuring your emails stay secure and compliant.

As for the actual mechanics, you'll need to start sending emails through SMTP + TLS using port 465. If you generate a lot of automated emails, think about setting up your own outbound SMTP server to manage that better.

SMTP2Go is a great option. I know some people might think it’s outdated, but it’s still functional and really easy to set up for sending emails. It worked well for us, and the cost was pretty reasonable, especially since we already had an account for our bulk mailing.

It’s true! We've been using it for our office printers, and it's been smooth sailing so far.

Just a heads-up, though—double-check compliance if you need HIPAA regulations.
