I accidentally ordered DDR5 6400 memory for my AM5 9800X3D setup. Should I return it or can I safely run it at DDR5 6000?

It’ll be just fine! Just set it to the 6000 XMP profile and if it’s stable, no need to worry about anything else.

Honestly, the exact speed might not matter that much. Sometimes, 6000 with better timings can actually outperform 6400 MHz. As a general rule, focus on stability at the 6000 setting, and don’t stress about chasing the fastest memory speeds.

You're in good shape. If you return the RAM, you might miss out on getting a good deal later. Just hold onto it! There's a chance you could even hit the full 6400 MT/s speeds without any problems.

Don’t worry too much! Your RAM might actually run fine at 6400 MHz. If it doesn’t, you can easily lower the speed to 6000 MHz without issues.

No major worries here! With AM5 CPUs like the 9800X3D, any RAM over 6000 MT/s will typically run with a UCLK at a 1:2 ratio, which is a bit slower than the ideal 1:1 ratio. You can either use the EXPO profile and set it to 6000 manually, or try to push the UCLK to 1:1 with the higher speed, but it might not always work. If it doesn't, stick with the 6000 setting.
