What GPU should I upgrade to from my 2080 Super, and do I need a new CPU?

Hey everyone! I've been using an RTX 2080 Super for quite a while now, and I'm finally ready to upgrade my GPU. I'm looking to spend around $850, maybe a little more. I'm considering the 5070 Ti or the 9070 XT since they're in my price range. I've heard that the 9070 XT is great for gaming, but I also record and stream using the NVENC encoder, plus I do some tasks in Blender, where the 5070 Ti seems to perform better. Given my needs, which GPU would you recommend?

Additionally, I'm worried about my current CPU possibly bottlenecking the new GPU. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, and if I need a new one, I'd like to keep the budget around $400. I prefer sticking with Ryzen, but I'm not sure which model is the best fit for me. I'd appreciate any advice!

For your purposes, the 5070 Ti could be a great choice since it balances gaming performance with productivity tasks really well. If you're focused on streaming, the NVENC encoder on the NVIDIA side is still really effective. As for your CPU, upgrading to something like a 5800X could give you a noticeable boost in gaming, but if you're mainly doing editing and basic tasks, your 3900X should still hold up pretty well. You can always start with the GPU upgrade and see if you experience any bottlenecks before deciding on a CPU upgrade.

Definitely go for the 5070 Ti, it’ll serve both gaming and productivity needs nicely. As for the CPU, upgrades in the AM4 socket like the 5800X or even the 5900X would be your best bet, but you might want to check if you'll really need them. If RAM prices are a concern, getting the GPU first might be the way to go. After that, you can assess whether your current setup is holding you back.
