What Motherboard Should I Get After My PC Breakdown?

My PC recently stopped working because of an electrical shortage. After taking it to a repair shop, the technician suggested that I should buy a whole new PC, which seems excessive to me. My motherboard (Asus Prime H510M-K) and power supply unit (PSU) are both dead, but everything else is still functioning. I have an Intel i5 11400F processor, an RTX 3060 graphics card, and 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM. The technician mentioned that my Corsair RAM is low quality, but I don't agree with that. I also use an Enermax Liqmax III 240 ARGB Liquid CPU Cooler and a Crucial P2 1TB NVMe SSD. My main concern now is: which motherboard should I buy to replace my broken parts without having to spend $1100 when I could potentially fix it for much less?

Honestly, just forget what the repair guy said. You can take your components and look for a used motherboard and a new PSU online—that should only cost you around $200. Spending $1100 is just silly when all you really need are those two parts!

Look for motherboards with an LGA1200 socket. Options include Z590, B560, or H510—keep in mind H510 has the fewest features and is usually the cheapest. As for the PSU, something around 650 watts should do.

Exactly! While some motherboards might be hard to find new, it’s worth checking used options. If you do upgrade, consider the price—it seems off for older tech. You could potentially reuse your working parts with a new setup and save money.

I agree—just get a new motherboard and PSU. If you can find a compatible motherboard from an older system, that could work too.

That shop really just wants to get as much money as possible. Your Corsair RAM isn’t bad at all! Just buy a motherboard that fits all your needs.
