What Desktop Linux Distro Can Replace Fedora for CrowdStrike Support?

CrowdStrike doesn't officially support Fedora anymore, and I'm looking for a solid alternative desktop distro. Apart from Ubuntu and Debian, I know there are a few supported options like AlmaLinux, Oracle Linux, CentOS Stream, RHEL, Rocky Linux, and openSUSE LEAP. I'm hoping to gather opinions on what might be the best choice for our programmers since they'll need to switch away from Fedora. Thanks for any insights!

Honestly, just suggest Rocky or Alma and be prepared for the typical Fedora backlash. Some Fedora users are surprisingly attached to their bleeding-edge packages and might react like you suggested they switch to Windows XP!

What other management tools do you have in place for Linux? If it's just a handful of people using Fedora and CrowdStrike is the only concern, I'd simply give them the list of the supported distros and let them choose one they prefer.

We’ve installed CrowdStrike on Oracle Linux versions 7-10, so that could definitely be an option for you if you're interested.

I've always gone with RHEL and SLES. For desktops, SLES or SLED are fantastic—I’ve been a SuSE user since 2001. They have some great manageability features and general desktop perks. openSUSE Leap is basically like SLES but more accessible for personal use. I'd pick SuSE for desktop tasks every time if I can help it.

Rocky Linux might be your best option if you want something that feels similar to Fedora. It's based on RHEL but is much more stable for enterprise environments. AlmaLinux is also a good choice, but I feel like Rocky has a stronger community backing lately.

I use Rocky everywhere I can! It's a super flexible distro and really solid (pun intended).

If I remember correctly, you can actually install it in userland. It might function, but don’t expect any support for that method. Just a heads-up!

Honestly, the issue here seems to be with CrowdStrike itself. Are you sure you want to rely on them? They have a pretty questionable reputation that raises some flags.
