I'm looking for suggestions to upgrade the GPU in my son's HP desktop. He mainly plays Battlefield and is interested in starting Microsoft Flight Simulator 24. Currently, he has an 8GB RX 580, a Ryzen 7 2700 CPU, and a 500W PSU. I'm open to any recommendations without a strict budget in mind, just hoping to find a solid card that will last him a while.

If you're aiming for a solid upgrade, the 9060 XT with 16GB is a great choice right now. However, if you want to keep it under $300, the B580 is also a good alternative. Just a heads up, it might be wise to consider a CPU upgrade as well since moving to something like the Ryzen 5 5600 or Ryzen 7 5700x would significantly enhance performance.
Check out the Intel Arc B570, it's currently available for around $199 on Amazon. That could serve as a decent temporary solution.
Honestly, the best route would be upgrading the whole rig. Focusing only on the GPU might not give you the best value. But if you're just holding out for a new build, then a GPU upgrade could still help.
That's true, but the motherboard limits me. We're slowly gathering parts for a new build. I just want to manage until then.

I appreciate the tip, I'll look into that!
