Why Does My PC Freeze When Playing Certain Games?

I'm trying to help my friend with her PC issue. Her computer keeps freezing while playing Baldur's Gate 3, sometimes 15 minutes in and other times after 5 hours. This problem originally appeared while playing Civ 6 and modded Minecraft but now seems isolated to Baldur's Gate 3. We've done a clean installation of Windows, used DDU to remove and reinstall drivers without being online, and the system is only about a year old. The existing drivers are Adrenalin 25.12, and the Event Viewer doesn't show useful errors, just something about a secure boot certificate. The machine generates crash dump files, but we don't see a BSOD; it just restarts after freezing. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

It sounds like you might need to check those crash dump files for more insight into the freezes. If you can boot into Windows normally or in Safe Mode, navigate to C:WindowsMinidump and see if any files are there. Zipping them and uploading to a file-sharing site can help us diagnose what’s going on. If you don’t have zip software, you can just right-click on the folder and compress it that way. Also, adjusting your settings to create Small Memory Dumps might give you better info. Just make sure to upload any files you find!

Yeah, multiple dump files will give us a better idea if there's a pattern. If the latest crash points to the AMD GPU driver, there could be an issue there, especially if you have both integrated and dedicated graphics. Let's figure this out!
