I'm in the process of separating my Apple accounts after using a shared one for years with a family member. I have a ton of photos and videos backed up to iCloud, and I've created a new iCloud account for myself since my phone storage isn't enough to hold everything. I'm wondering if setting up a Shared Library with my new account would be an effective way to transfer all my photos.
Also, will it be straightforward to sign out of the old account and into the new one, separating my phone number in the process? I'll need to know if I can also apply my phone backups to the new account or if they are restricted to the original account. Any tips or additional details would be greatly appreciated!

I actually covered how to do this in an earlier post, though some steps might have changed with the latest OS updates. Basically, setting up a Shared Library could work for your photos, but keep in mind that if you're dealing with a lot of data, it could get tricky depending on your storage limits. Let me know if you need any specific clarifications on the steps!

Thanks for the info! I have over double the space of my phone in my photo library, so I'm worried if low-res storage will work for the transfer. Will the photos come back in high resolution once I connect to the new iCloud?
