How to Fix ‘No Internet Access’ After Deleting VPN Files?

I've been struggling with a frustrating internet issue on my PC. Even though my wired connection is functioning and the LAN cable works on other devices, Windows keeps showing 'No internet access'. I don't have a Wi-Fi adapter, and I've been trying to troubleshoot without much luck. The problems started after I mistakenly deleted all the files related to Proton, which I was using for VPN and DNS. I've done some checks: pinging a public server works, the nslookup command returns correct addresses, and I can connect to web servers on HTTP and HTTPS ports, but I'm still unable to load anything in browsers or apps. I attempted a winsock reset and rebooted my PC, but that didn't help either. My AI troubleshooting tool mentioned a few possible causes, like system-wide proxy settings or leftover VPN artifacts. I'm really out of my depth here and could use any advice to get my internet back up and running!

I recommend you give the reinstalling method a shot as well. Just deleting files can cause more chaos, so make sure to uninstall it properly. If reinstalling Proton doesn’t work, try removing your network card from Device Manager; Windows should automatically reinstall it on reboot. If not, grab the drivers from another source and install them manually. That might do the trick!

It sounds like you might be in a tough spot! Instead of just deleting the Proton files, try reinstalling the software to see if that resolves the issue. Once it's reinstalled, you can uninstall it properly if you don’t want it on your PC. Also, give your modem and router a restart, and don’t forget to use the network troubleshooter built into Windows. If all else fails, resetting the network settings or reinstalling your network driver could help too.
