Help! My GPU won’t let my system boot properly

I'm really struggling with my gaming setup. I have a Rog Strix B850 motherboard paired with an RTX 5060 Ti, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, 48GB of RAM, and a 750W Lian Li SFX power supply inside a Qube 500 case, running Windows 11. This is my second motherboard having the same frustrating issue: the system boots fine with onboard graphics when the GPU is removed, but as soon as I add any GPU, including the 5060 Ti or a spare 2060, the system gets stuck at 'preparing automatic repair' and never actually loads into Windows. Interestingly, if I use a secondary PCIe slot, it boots up fine. I've already flashed the BIOS to the latest version, but I'm at a loss here. Any suggestions?

You should definitely be doing a clean install, not just cloning your drive. It's the best way to ensure everything is set up correctly.

Sounds like a RAM issue to me. I mean, 48GB is a bit odd; did you check if all the RAM sticks are seated properly? Some motherboards have issues with mixed RAM sizes or speeds.

Have you thought about doing a clean Windows install? It could help eliminate any driver or software conflicts that might be causing the problem.

It might be that you didn't remove the old drivers properly. I’ve heard there’s a bug with the 5060 Ti that makes your PC freeze unless you use DDU to clean out the drivers. You should definitely check forums like Nvidia’s or even Reddit for more info.

Yeah, Nvidia seems to have driver issues quite often. If DDU doesn’t work, a clean Windows install might be your best bet to rule out any weird problems.
