Which is Better for Windows Patching: Intune or Datto?

I'm curious about Windows patching solutions. We've recently transitioned to using Entra primarily with Intune, but I'm not very familiar with Intune's patching capabilities. Is Intune generally considered superior since it's from Microsoft, or do other tools like Datto hold up just as well? Would love to hear your thoughts!

If you're looking for ease, Intune is really straightforward. Just set up the patching rings and let it take care of the rest. It's pretty hassle-free!

I've found that Auto Patching works quite well for Windows devices. You might want to check out Action1 too; it's free for up to 200 devices and does a decent job!

Yeah, Action1 is surprisingly effective for a free tool!

We use NinjaOne for our laptops and servers. We just switched a few weeks ago, and while it needs some tweaking, it’s handling the patching duties pretty well. Plus, I like its reporting features—very useful for tracking everything!

We also use NinjaOne for our Azure and AWS servers, both Windows and Linux. We're working on integrating it with Macs right now.

Both Intune and Datto have their pros and cons. Intune is decent if you're fully on Entra, but it can be a bit slow to get used to. Datto gives you more visibility and speed when something goes wrong, but you might lose some flexibility with that. Ultimately, it depends on your specific needs and how you manage your processes more than the tools themselves.
