How to Fully Replace Windows 10 with Zorin on a Single HDD?

I'm looking to completely switch from Windows 10 to Zorin OS on my laptop. Since I only have one hard drive and can't afford another, I want Zorin to be my only operating system, without dual booting. Any advice or steps on how to make this transition smoothly?

If you have a mechanical HDD, you might want to consider trying Linux Mint 22.3 with the Cinnamon desktop instead. Zorin is great, but it runs on GNOME, which isn't always the best for older hardware. Mint might give you better performance unless you're running an SSD.

Honestly, if you're unsure about the whole process, that might be a sign to take it easy. Setting up the USB to boot first is usually straightforward, but formatting the drive and installing Zorin will erase everything. Just think it through, and remember, if you run into issues, you won't have a backup plan. Enjoy the new OS if you go for it!

First things first, make sure to back up all your important files to an external drive before you do anything. Once you've done that, you can proceed to install Zorin. Just boot from a USB drive (you'll need to set that as the first boot device in your BIOS/UEFI) and then wipe the Windows partition to install Zorin fresh. Good luck!
