I have a MacBook 15 that currently has a single 8GB DDR4 RAM module installed. I'm curious if I can replace it with DDR3 RAM instead. If that's not possible, are there any adapter solutions available? I'm open to paying for a custom one if needed.

Unfortunately, you can't mix DDR4 and DDR3 RAM; they aren't compatible with each other at all.
Different DDR versions don't work together, so it’s a no-go on switching to DDR3.
This person mentioned the possibility of making an adapter, but it would have to be quite complex and likely end up being way more expensive than just getting the right RAM. Just a heads up!

Yeah, unless you want to throw money at a custom solution, it’s definitely better to stick with DDR4 for compatibility and performance.
