I've got an old Windows 7 PC that's around 19 years old, and I'm in the process of taking it apart with care. I'm stuck on how to move forward—should I just get a new motherboard and CPU and reuse the current case, or is it better to buy a completely new PC?

It really depends on how you feel about the old case. If you’re not attached to it, I'd recommend buying a new one instead. Plus, check out the Fractal Design website; their PC cases are top-notch!
Honestly, for any build, the case is one of the cheapest parts. Your 19-year-old system isn't going to be useful for modern tech either, so it might be worth it to go with a new setup.
Replacing everything would be the easier route. Most parts from a 19-year-old PC won't really fit into a new build, and the effort to salvage the case isn’t worth it since it's pretty inexpensive compared to other components.
You might need to take off the back panel and unscrew a few things to get the disc reader out, but be prepared for a gaping hole afterwards!
Just grab an affordable case—like $50 or so. The airflow in an old case is probably not great, and keeping your components cool is important.
