My Motherboard Has Standby Power But Won’t Turn On, What Am I Missing?

I'm a newbie builder trying to get my setup going, but I'm stuck. My motherboard (Z890M-Plus Wifi) is receiving standby power since the case light and the BIOS flashback light are on. However, I'm not getting any response when I try to power it up—no standby LEDs light up and my monitor doesn't detect any input. It's set up on a cardboard surface to avoid any shorts, and I ensured all connections are secure: the PSU (Power Zone 2 850W) has the 20 and 8 pin cables connected, along with the 2-piece 24 pins to the motherboard. The CPU (Intel Core Ultra 5 245K) is seated correctly, and the cooler is installed with power connections in place. I've also installed the RAM in slots A2 and B2, but I removed the GPU for troubleshooting. I've already swapped out the motherboard and PSU, but I'm still having no luck. What could I be doing wrong?

When you short the I/O power pins together, does anything happen at all? If nothing happens, you might need to check your connections again or make sure the motherboard isn’t damaged.

Have you checked if the power button is connected to the front panel headers? The motherboard won’t power up just by plugging it in. You either need to hit the power button or briefly connect the power button pins together. That might be what's missing here.
