Hey there, I'm a night janitor at a high school, and while chatting with coworkers about gun and drug laws, I got curious. After work, I saw a post on Facebook about Walmart selling lobsters and AK-47s back in the day. That made me think about the correlation between restrictive gun laws and reports of shootings. I searched on my personal phone, asking, "why does it seem like there have been more shootings the more we restrict guns?" I only looked at the AI summary, which seemed to refute my idea, but then I panicked, thinking I shouldn't have searched that kind of thing on a school Wi-Fi. Now I'm worried that IT or even the cops might come knocking, and I definitely don't own any guns or have bad intentions—just a passing curiosity from our earlier conversation. By the way, I also googled 'is anyone looking at the Wi-Fi history?' which was probably an overreaction. What do you think? Should I be concerned?

No way, you’re probably fine! They’d have to match your MAC ID to any search on that Wi-Fi, and chances are they won't even bother. You were just researching a topic, not looking for anything harmful.
Very unlikely. They track what sites you visit but not specific search terms, so you have nothing to worry about.
Honestly, it’s an innocent question. I doubt there will be any repercussions. You’re good!
If all you typed was that detailed question about shootings and gun laws, I really don’t see a reason for concern. It’s clear you weren't searching with malicious intent. Plus, IT can only see that you accessed Google, not the specifics.
Totally, I panicked a bit there, just assuming the worst. Appreciate your reassurance!
