I stumbled upon a copy of Effective Java (3rd Edition) that I bought about 4-5 years ago, and since I'm planning to revisit Java after being away for three years in a professional setting, I'm curious if this book is still valuable for someone with experience. Is it worth dedicating my time to read it?

It's worth it for sure! If you’re not ready to dive into it fully right now, at least take a look at the table of contents. Each chapter stands on its own, so you might find some topics that are relevant to what you're working on now.

While some parts might feel dated or like common sense, going through it can help you remember the fundamentals and the reasoning behind certain practices. It’s definitely still useful.

Definitely! This book is packed with valuable insights for experienced developers, not just beginners.

Keep in mind that there have been a lot of changes in the Java language over the years, so some of the advice may not be up-to-date. That said, it's still an excellent resource. I really hope they come out with a 4th edition soon!
