Why Does My Desktop Background Change When I Hover Over Icons?

I've noticed something odd with my desktop background: sometimes it changes when I hover over icons with my cursor. It's a little tricky to explain, and I tried to share a video, but it didn't go through. When I click and drag the cursor over the desktop, it seems to change the background under my cursor. Has anyone else experienced this or know what might be causing it?

It sounds like a graphics glitch. One quick fix could be to update your GPU drivers or try turning off some desktop effects to see if that helps.

This behavior can happen if you've accidentally deleted or moved the image file you're using as your wallpaper. Double-check to see if the file is still there and hasn’t been altered.

Maybe you should consider refreshing your graphics drivers? There’s usually a shortcut key for that, though I can't remember it off the top of my head.
