Help Me Choose the Right WiFi Card for My Motherboard

Hi there! I'm pretty new to all this and could use some guidance. I've been using an ethernet cable for the last six years, but since I moved, I need to install a WiFi card. I'm having a bit of a dilemma with the spacing inside my PC, especially because the big video card seems to be blocking one of the PCIe slots. I'd like to figure out what WiFi card would fit in the PCIe_3 slot below my video card in PCIe_1. I don't think I can access PCIe_2 due to the video card's size. Also, I'm currently on Windows 10 but I'm open to upgrading to Windows 11 if it will help me use WiFi 7. Any advice or suggestions would be super helpful! Thanks!

Have you considered just using a USB WiFi adapter instead? It can be a lot easier than messing around with the internal components.

Are there any reliable USB devices you recommend? I've seen mixed reviews on them claiming WiFi 7 but not delivering on speeds. Is that just related to router limitations? Do they need to be USB 3.0 to work right?

For your PCIe_3 slot, I’d recommend looking for a WiFi card based on the Intel AX210. Just search "AX210" when you shop around. If you want to get into WiFi 7, check out the QCNCM865, though you might struggle with drivers.

Totally agree! The AX210 should work perfectly for your setup. Just a heads-up, the WiFi 7 chips might require you to upgrade to Windows 11 unless you want some tricky driver workarounds. To be honest, unless you really need WiFi 7, you might not notice much change on your current machine.

Thanks for the tips! Is there a big difference in speed between WiFi 6e and WiFi 7? I'm curious about that.

You could also just tether your phone to your PC for internet access. It’s a quick workaround!

That sounds interesting! I'll look up how to tether my iPhone to my Windows PC. Will I need specific cables for that?
