Is it normal for a PSU to arrive with missing packaging?

I'm building a new PC and decided to go with the MSI A850GL power supply. I watched some unboxing videos where the PSU came wrapped in plastic, with the unit securely placed in foam and all the cables neatly tied. However, when my order arrived, it looked like it had been through some rough handling. The PSU was just open in the box without any foam, and only some of the cables were tied up while the others were just thrown in the box. Is this typical for a new unit, or have I received a returned item? The seller identified it as brand new and unopened on Amazon.

This can happen with Amazon due to their flexible return policy. Their stock management isn’t always the best. You’re not the first to have this issue!

I guess that's the price we pay for easy returns!

It seems like someone bought it and then returned it without the proper packaging. Definitely check for any return slips inside the box!

Haha, I just found a return slip taped to the PSU. They really just sent me someone else's return!

Yeah, MSI usually wraps their PSU boxes pretty well. It sounds like you might have gotten a return or an open box item. I'd suggest sending it back and asking for a replacement!

Ugh, extra trips to return it... Thanks for the advice!
