I just bought a new MSI gaming laptop, but I'm struggling with really terrible WiFi speeds. While playing Fortnite, my ping spikes between 200 to 500 milliseconds, and even when I try using an Ethernet connection, it gets worse, reaching 500 to 1000 milliseconds. My old laptop, which has much worse specs, performs better than this! I've checked my WiFi speeds on my phone, and they seem fine, so I suspect it's a problem with the laptop itself. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Unfortunately, MSI laptops can have issues with their WiFi chips being placed in awkward spots. I've heard the same complaints from other users about different models. A few workarounds you can try include using a wired connection, grabbing a USB 5GHz WiFi dongle, or even swapping out the WiFi card if possible, as laptop manufacturers sometimes skimp on quality these days.
Yeah, I've read a few similar stories about this model. I'd probably look into returning it if it's causing so many issues.
Make sure to check your WiFi settings for any 'smart optimization' options. I had a problem where the Killer WiFi software was throttling my laptop speed unexpectedly. Turning off those features helped me get back to normal speeds.
It sounds like you're dealing with some serious connectivity issues. Try looking into replacing the WiFi card, if that's an option for you. Also, don’t forget to check for any firmware updates. But honestly, how can you even game with 500ms? Are you sure that’s the right number?
The ping does bounce around, sometimes it’s even in the 40-100 range, but most of the time, it spikes to those insane numbers. At this point, I'm really considering returning the laptop.

Should I consider returning it for a different model? The WiFi is just unbearable.
