My parents have banned my devices' IP addresses from our home WiFi, so to get around that, I changed the IP addresses of my devices to match my father's phone. Now, three devices are sharing the same IP address. Initially, when only my PC was connected, everything seemed fine, but after I changed my phone's IP as well, the internet connection has been really poor. Is this slow connection because of having multiple devices on the same IP, or could it be that my WiFi is just acting up?

Yeah, when you give all your devices the same static IP, they all keep trying to connect at once, causing conflicts. That's definitely why your internet is acting up!
You can’t have duplicate IP addresses on the same network. That’s just a recipe for disaster!
Got it! Guess I need to fix that ASAP.
You've triggered an IP clash. No two devices should have the same IP on the same network; it simply won't work, and trust me, it's messy!
Think of it like having several houses on the same street with the same number. The postal service wouldn’t know where to deliver the mail, right? The same thing happens with IP addresses on a network!
To avoid this problem, consider spoofing your MAC address instead. If your parents aren’t specifically allowing devices on the network, this might let you get a new IP without any conflicts.
So, what's the fix then? Can I just change them back to their original IPs?
