I'm planning to reinstall Ubuntu, but I realized that I didn't set up full disk encryption during the original installation. Since I can't enable it retroactively, I want to make sure I back up all my files, settings, and installed programs before I do the reinstall. What's the simplest method to back up everything so I can restore my setup easily after enabling encryption? Thanks for your help!

If it's possible for you, the easiest method would be to take your existing drive out and install it on a new SSD or HDD. That way, you don't have to worry about backing up anything since you'd have the original drive intact.

Haha, fair point! Unfortunately, I don't have a spare SSD lying around. What's the next easiest option?
