Is the Intel Arc A750 a Good Choice for an Older PC?

I currently don't have a gaming computer and I'm looking into getting started. I'm considering the Intel Arc A750 for my older build, which has an i5 6500 processor. I'm planning to upgrade the rest of my system within the next year, but I'm concerned about whether the A750 will create any significant issues with that CPU in the meantime. The main reason I'm looking at the A750 is its lower price compared to other cards, and I'm wary of buying used GPUs since I've had bad experiences in the past. Any advice would be appreciated! Sorry for my English skills!

To give you an idea of your current specs: you've got an i5 6500, 16GB DDR3 RAM, a 600W PSU, and a 1TB SSD. With those specs, I'd definitely lean towards something other than the Arc A750.

Yeah, with that setup, you might face compatibility issues. Stick with more established brands for better performance.

If it were me, I'd look into something like a used NVIDIA 2070, 2080, or maybe even a 3060. These are more reliable for older CPUs like the i5 6500. You can find some decent deals on eBay, plus their return policy is pretty solid!

Consider snagging a used 3060 Ti! You can often find them in the $200-225 range, and it would be a much better match for your build.

Minimum recommended setup for the Arc is a 10th gen Intel CPU, so I’d steer clear of it with your i5 6500.

Unfortunately, Intel’s GPUs just don’t perform well with older hardware. You might end up disappointed if you choose the A750.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the Intel Arc cards for an older system like yours. They tend to struggle unless your motherboard supports Resizable Bar, which many older boards don’t.
