I'm trying to improve my Acer Aspire 5's performance for online classes since it's been lagging. My laptop has an Intel i3 (11th Gen) processor, 4GB of RAM, and Intel graphics. I have the option to add either more RAM or an NVMe drive, but I'm not sure which will give me better speed. What do you think?

According to Crucial, your Acer Aspire 5 can take more RAM. You could either add another 16GB or switch out the existing RAM for a 16GB stick to avoid mixing. This could really enhance your laptop's performance significantly, especially for your classes.
It sounds like your laptop's RAM is the main bottleneck here. With just 4GB, you might be running out of memory for the tasks you're doing, which can lead to slow performance. Upgrading the RAM is likely the better choice. The storage type doesn't have a significant impact on speed, and going for more RAM could really help with multitasking and running heavier apps.
Thanks for the advice!
Upgrading might not give you the bang for your buck unless you're using a super lightweight OS. With Windows 10/11, you’re already using around 3GB just for the OS, so if you really want to see improvements, RAM is definitely the way to go. Otherwise, you might not notice much change with just an NVMe upgrade.
That makes sense, appreciate your input!
