Help! My GPU Isn’t Being Detected After a Crash

I was gaming late at night when my PC suddenly crashed, and the screen went black, but all the lights inside the case were still on. I forced a shutdown and thought nothing of it until today when I noticed my refresh rate was lower than normal. When I tried to launch a game, it said my GPU wasn't connected. I've cleaned out the dust and tried updating my drivers, but it threw an error saying I don't have a GPU. I'm really worried since this is my first PC, and I can't afford to buy a new one. The GPU is an AMD Radeon 6700 XT, and I'm connecting it through the GPU, not the motherboard. Any help would be appreciated!

It sounds like your GPU might have failed, especially since it seems like you can't even update the drivers. I had a similar issue with a 4070 Ti, and when I tested an older GPU, it worked fine. If you can, try a different GPU to see if that solves the issue. If not, you might need to consider repairs or a replacement.

I would recommend checking your power supply and connections. Sometimes, instability can stem from a faulty PSU or loose connections. Additionally, considering running some standalone tests using OCCT to check your CPU, memory, and GPU for issues. It might also help to ensure you're on a stable driver version and roll back if necessary.

Before jumping to conclusions, let’s check how you updated your drivers. Did you download them directly from the AMD website, disconnect from the internet, use DDU in Safe Mode, and then install? If not, I suggest you try that. Also, share your PC specs, OS details, and confirm if your iGPU is disabled in BIOS for better help.
