Why does my new PC shut down when I launch a game?

I've just built a new PC equipped with a 9800 X3D processor and an Asus PRIME 50070ti graphics card, plus 32GB of DDR5 RAM. I'm still using my old XFX XTR 850W power supply, but I'm facing a problem: every time I start a game (like Guild Wars 2), my PC shuts down after a few seconds. One suggestion I received is that my power supply might not be able to handle sudden power spikes since it's ATX 2.0. I'm considering upgrading to an ATX 3.0 or 3.1 unit. Before this setup, I didn't have any issues with my previous graphics card (a 1060) using the same PSU. Also, I'm not familiar with undervolting, so I don't know how to diagnose further. Based on my event viewer's extract, do you think a new ATX 3.0 or 3.1 power supply will resolve this issue? I've been looking at a specific model, and I'd love some advice!

Instead of just relying on AI suggestions, take some time to check your event viewer. It can show you the specific errors that are causing your PC to shut down. I had a similar issue before, and it helped me diagnose the problem more effectively. Here’s the link again for reference: [Event Viewer link](https://imgur.com/a/uwwkWmG)

It sounds like your power supply might be aging and could struggle under the new load. The XFX XTR 850W was good in its day, but after 10 years, it's understandable that it might not handle your new setup well. If you're looking for something reliable without breaking the bank, consider the Montech Century II 850W - it's going for about $90 and should do the job!
