Why is my Snipping Tool so slow after upgrading to Windows 11?

I've been relying on the Snipping Tool (using Win+Shift+S) for quick screenshots, but ever since I updated to Windows 11, it's been super sluggish. It now takes about 2 to 5 seconds to open after hitting the hotkeys, which makes it pretty much unusable for my needs. I'm not sure if this is a bug or an intended change, but it's frustrating. So, I'm looking for either a fix for this issue or a good alternative tool. Thanks for any help!

I always use Greenshot as my go-to alternative. It's really reliable and has a nice set of features for quick screenshots.

If you aren't already, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Snipping Tool. Sometimes that simple step can really make a difference.

Resetting the Snipping Tool app could help. You can find the option in the settings, or you can use a PowerShell script to reset it. That might get it back to its speedy self!

You might want to consider switching to ShareX. It's a fantastic screenshot and screen recording tool that’s free and available on the Microsoft Store. It has a ton of features that make it way better than the Snipping Tool. I barely use the Snipping Tool anymore since I started using ShareX!
