Why is my PC slower since switching to Ubuntu?

After switching from Windows 10 to Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS, I've noticed a significant drop in my PC's performance. It seems to struggle with handling multiple tasks at once. For instance, I used to be able to download large games while playing another game and watching YouTube, but now I can't even watch a screen share on Google Meet while downloading something. My computer specs are as follows: Intel Core i5-10400F, 32 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, and the OS is installed on an SSD. Any thoughts on what might be causing this slowdown?

Ubuntu 24 has definitely felt slower compared to 22 for some users. If you're using snap versions of browsers, switching to non-snap versions could help speed things up a bit.

Consider installing btop++ to monitor your system resources. This can give you a better idea of what's using up your CPU and RAM in real time and might reveal some hidden issues.

It sounds like your download might be hogging all the bandwidth, which could be affecting your ability to stream or screen share. Try checking your network settings to see if there's any throttling happening.

Honestly, I'm starting to think this is more about network issues rather than the computer itself. Make sure your internet connection is stable—this might be causing the streaming problems whenever you're downloading something.

Have you made sure the NVIDIA drivers are properly installed? You can check this by running the command `nvidia-smi`. If the driver isn't loaded, that could really impact your performance.
