How Can I Break Into DevOps or SRE After Taking a Break from Tech?

Hey folks, I used to work as a software engineer for a few years, doing both internships and full-time work. My experience spans typical full stack development, as well as security engineering, pentesting, and DevSecOps. However, I've been out of the tech loop for a while, but I recently rediscovered my passion for it. I've even set up a homelab with around 25 services running, focusing on things like Jellyfin and media automation, along with some monitoring tools I've developed myself.

Now, I'm looking to jump back into the industry, specifically in roles like DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering. Here's my current plan:
1. Learn Terraform and create a network infrastructure on Oracle Cloud using their free tier.
2. Use Ansible to configure my setup, including K3S.
3. Dive into Kubernetes concepts and get hands-on.
4. Set up a deployment pipeline for my personal site using GitHub Actions and implement an observability stack.
5. Familiarize myself with Helm and ArgoCD/Flux and share my cloud infrastructure repo publicly.

I would love your input on anything I should add to my study list or any certifications that could help me stand out while showcasing my skills in this field again!

You're already doing solid work with your setup! The key differentiator now is being able to demonstrate your understanding of failure, recovery, and tradeoffs. It's less about piling on more tools and more about clearly explaining your choices and the reasons behind your architecture.

That makes total sense! I realize I need to focus on building robust systems and really understanding them to help me stand out. Thanks for the insight!
