I installed Grammarly on my MacBook Air to help with writing, but when I turned it off temporarily, I noticed that spellcheck in Pages and Notes stopped working. I uninstalled Grammarly hoping it would fix the issue, but it didn't. I also tried the Terminal command that I found online to restore spellcheck, but after rebooting, it still doesn't work. Now I keep seeing a message about the default shell being zsh. I checked the settings, and spellcheck is enabled there too. I'm really frustrated and just want to turn spellcheck back on—any ideas on what to do?

First, make sure Grammarly was completely removed. Sometimes it leaves behind residual files that can cause issues. I found a guide that might help, and it includes using CleanMyMac, although I know that can be controversial. Also, the zsh message is just a reminder for users on macOS Catalina and later; it shouldn’t affect your spellcheck. Try to find more recent guides for fixing spellcheck, as some older info might not work anymore.
Be careful with Terminal commands if you're unsure of what they do. If the command you ran didn't fix the issue and you're not familiar with Terminal, you might need to reset some things on your system. It might be safer to look for a more user-friendly solution instead of diving deeper into Terminal.
I did run that Terminal command everyone suggested, but it didn’t solve my problem either. Just trying to get back to normal here!

Thanks for the links! I really hope there's a fix out there because this is driving me nuts.
