Can I Wake Up My Computer Remotely From a Different Network?

I'm looking for a way to stream my Windows PC to my Chromebook at school, but the PC is usually off. I know about Wake-on-LAN, but since I'll be on a different network, I'm not sure if that's feasible. Is there a method to wake my computer from a remote location, like my phone? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Make sure to enable port forwarding and Wake-on-LAN settings on your router. If that's too much hassle, just leaving the PC on shouldn't cost you too much on the power bill!

Thanks for the tip! I might try leaving it on for now.

You might want to set up a lightweight server using Wireguard to make it work! It's a great way to manage network connections.

That sounds interesting! Do you have any tips on setting up Wireguard?

You'll need to use a VPN solution like Tailscale, OpenVPN, or Wireguard to access your home network. Also, consider just keeping your computer on to simplify things.

Why turn it off in the first place? Mine’s been running continuously for over a decade. You can even set it to wake up at specific times if you want.
