Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a tough spot and could really use your insights. I have an Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi motherboard paired with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU and a Gainward GeForce RTX 5080 Phoenix GS GPU, along with 32GB of 3200MHz RAM and a solid 850W PSU. I thought my setup was more than capable of handling recording, but I'm facing significant stuttering during gameplay recordings, regardless of whether I'm using the Nvidia app or OBS. The recorded footage seems choppy even when my games are barely taxing the GPU at 4K resolution. To top it off, I encountered the same stuttering issue with my previous RTX 3080 Ti GPU, so it's clearly not just a problem with the new card.
I've tried a clean Windows install and experimented with a ton of settings, but nothing seems to resolve the issue. Other factors are also puzzling, like how the GPU isn't heavily loaded and temperatures are normal. I'm starting to wonder if this could be tied to BIOS settings, motherboard issues, PCIe configurations, or even a hardware conflict. Could my PSU be insufficient for my needs? I would be grateful for any suggestions or experiences similar to mine. Thanks for your help!

There’s a video that shows the stuttering clearly: it’s worth a look. You might want to compare how the recordings play back in different software.
I didn’t notice any stuttering in the videos either. Have you tried checking them on a different device to see if it’s perhaps a monitor issue?

Yeah, I’m a bit confused too; maybe the stuttering only pops up on the 120Hz video? It could be a monitor-related problem.
